Tequeños venezolanos are Venezuelan cheese sticks. They are hot and crispy and usually they come as Hours D’Oeuvre in parties and gatherings. However, you can have them as snacks or fast food. Their spiral shape and scent of flour dough will water your mouth when smelled. Tequeños venezolanos are addictive and fun to eat. You can have them even for breakfast. At the first crispy bite, the delight, and the taste of “Queso Blanco” melt will capture your senses. You’ll feel the urge to quickly reach for the next one before they’re gone. Tequeños venezolanos  serve hot to enjoy their crispy, cheesy, and salty flavor. They taste better by dipping them into a Thousand Island Sauce. There many stories related to the origins of the Tequeños Venezolanos; however, the most logical one points to the city of Los Teques which used to be a vacation site back in the early 1920s. Hence, the name. The truth is that there is no Venezuelan party or gathering without Tequeños. With the Venezuelan emigration they are becoming world famous. In the United States, especially in Florida, they can be found almost in every city.

Tequeños have many variations. Some Venezuelan locations have different recipes from their wrap to their fill. For example, in the Zulia region they make them with ripe bananas wrap. Tequeños are also popular in other Latin American countries like Colombia, Perú, and Ecuador among others. A few variants that are becoming increasingly well-known every day have different fillings, such as guava, cheese and ham, and ham-filled only. In Spain for instance, they fill them with chorizo and other cold cuts.
